Follow Ups - Laura Stroot

·   Breakfast with your Bears is going awesome! The planning for this event has been amazing.

·   Veterans Day – trying to figure out what day to hold the event next year as it seems to work better if we do not celebrate on the actual holiday.

o Options (Pros & Cons to each):

-    Thursday prior 11/7: Selvidge Band will be available.

·   It was mentioned that having the band there is good for morale and good for the younger kids to be able to look up at the band members and feel like that’s what they want to do when they get to middle school. A proud moment for the band and something to look forward to as younger students.

·   Friday prior 11/8: Selvidge Band will not be available, but we could have one big, combined assembly opposed to 2 separate ones.

Treasurer – Mandy Pelhank

Treasurer Budget Tracking Spreadsheet will no longer be distributed at PSO meetings, but instead is available to view on Rockwood's Website on the Parent-Teacher Organization page.

·   As of January 2024:

Outstanding Checks Not Cleared: $ 2,574.00

Total Funds Available: $ 38,289.57

·   $13,000 left to use for the rest of 2024 school year!

·   Family Events: goal is to make enough money to cover the school year movie license – so far, we have made $1,400 which well covers the license! Woohoo!

o Bingo Night: Event was profitable and well received.

o 2 movie nights, 1 left on April 5th

Also, the main resource for PSO information will no longer be Facebook, it needs to be Parent Square, per Rockwood. Everything will still be available on Facebook, (will post in both places) but it is highly suggested that Parent Square be the main resource. Mandy is learning how to use Parent Square for postings, calendar dates, reminders, etc.

For those available to stay after the meeting, Spring Parties are going to be discussed/planned.

It was suggested and decided that the party theme will revolve around the school’s shared reading book, Wishtree.

Activities are based off the book.

Activities will have the same type of format as the Fall Parties where the kids will rotate, and the parent volunteers will remain at the same activity during their signed-up time slot.

Rockwood School District PTO meetings are reserved for district parents, community members and invited guests. If you are interested in speaking at a PTO meeting, please reach out to their executive board members ahead of planned meetings.
